There are many great benefits and features with your contactless Avantcard credit card.

1General and Clubcard Information

The interest rates and credit limit on your Avantcard credit card will remain the same as your Tesco Bank credit card.

You will continue to earn the same amount of Tesco Clubcard points when using your Avantcard credit card.

  • Earn 1 point for every €2 spent in Tesco stores using your new Avantcard credit card.

  • Earn 3 points for every €2 spent in Tesco stores when you use your new Avantcard credit card, along with your new ClubCard.

  • Earn 1 point for every €8 spent in all other stores.

Extra Clubcard points

As a special thank you, you will receive an extra 250 Tesco ClubCard points when you use your Avantcard Credit Card 3 times or more during November. It’s that simple.

2Getting your PIN – for Tesco customers only*

  • Don’t forget to get your PIN by SMS before you start using your card. Please note that your mobile network provider may charge you for this SMS.

  • To retrieve your PIN number, send your date of birth, in the format DDMMYYYY (e.g. 15th February 1980 would be 15021980) to 086 180 3169.

  • To make contactless transactions, you will first need to make a transaction using the chip and PIN.

  • Be sure to memorise your PIN and delete the SMS straight away.

  • If you have any questions or need some assistance, simply call us on 071 959 4097**

*Currently only customers moving from Tesco to Avantcard have access to this service.

** Opening hours from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm on Saturdays excluding bank holidays

3How to register online

Step 1: Set up your online banking account

Go to www.avantcard.ie, click on the login button and then register your account by setting up your username and password.  Have your account number at hand as you will need this to set up your online banking profile. Only the main cardholder can complete this.

Once the main cardholder has activated their card, all other cards on the account will be activated.

Step 2: Update your details

Ensure your details are up to date, especially your email address and mobile number (you will need this to get your PIN).

 

4Making Payments

You will need to use your new credit card or account number when making payments to your Avantcard credit card account.

  1. To make payments online, via telephone banking or by standing order from your bank account provider, you will require the following 3 pieces of information;

    • Our BIC which is CITIIE2X

    • Our IBAN IE90CITI99005117683012

    • Your new Avantcard account number. This is a 16 digit account number which begins with 245. This is different to your credit card number. You will find this number in the blue header of your online banking account or on your statement. Using any other information as a reference may result in your payment being returned.

  2. If you were paying your Tesco credit card by Direct Debit, you do not need to make any changes. It will automatically transfer to your Avantcard account.

  3. To pay at the Post Office, you will need to bring your new Avantcard credit card or statement. Payments made at the post office will incur a charge of €0.97.

  4. You can also make payments directly to us with your debit card on our automated telephone system by dialing 071 959 4097, or through your online banking account.

    What is a Balance Transfer?

    A Balance Transfer allows you to quickly transfer a balance owed to another credit card provider to your Avantcard credit card and could save you money on interest payments.

    How it works!

    You can transfer from €100 right up to 95% of your credit limit from your other credit cards to your Avantcard credit card at our competitive interest rates.

    What is a Money Transfer?

    A Money Transfer is a transfer of money from your credit card to your bank account at a competitive interest rate.

    How it works!

    Instead of using your current account or overdraft, with an Avantcard credit card you can borrow for a six month period at a competitive interest rate. You can transfer from €100 up to 95% of your available credit to your bank account.  The money can be in your bank account within one business day subject to approval. It’s that simple!

    Great news! You can have up to 3 additional cardholders who will receive their own credit card and PIN, providing them with access to your credit limit. However, only the main cardholder of the account will have access to account maintenance services and will remain liable for the transactions on the account.

    Balance and Money Transfers key information

    Transfers are available to the main cardholder on the account only. The account should be up to date and not restricted. We may use our contractual discretion not to authorise a Transfer in certain circumstances, for example by acting to prevent potential over indebtedness.

What is Contactless?

Contactless means you have a super-quick, no-fuss way to pay for everyday items up to €30 like a coffee, lunch or travel everyday. So, whenever you see the contactless symbol on the card reader, simply tell the retailer you want to pay by contactless and touch your card against the reader.

Am I protected when I shop online?

Yes, we have joined forces with Mastercard SecureCode® to bring you 3D Secure. 3D Secure is a free and automatic online security service that has been created to help guard your Avantcard credit card against unauthorised use online. Depending on the nature of the transaction, you may occasionally receive a text message to your mobile phone with a one-time passcode. You will have to enter this one-time passcode when completing your payment online. Please ensure your mobile phone number is up to date in online banking.
