If you are snapping up bargains online from the comfort of your couch, or out and about in your local shop, here are some tips for happy and safe shopping with your Avantcard credit card.


    Shop on secure websites

  • Check the address bar when you go to will know it’s a secure site if it has a padlock symbol and https:// at the start of it. That’s a good indication that the retailer is reputable.

    Look out for 3d Secure

  • The use of either Mastercard SecureCode™ or Verified by Visa™ is an endorsement of a retailer’s security. You may occasionally receive a text message to your mobile phone with a one-time passcode to enter when completing your payment online.

    Use strong passwords

  • Passwords can be the first and sometimes best line of defense against cybercriminals. Using complex passwords is a good start, but they also need to be kept private and changed on a regular basis. Also, use a unique password for every website.

    Don’t shop on public Wi-Fi networks

  • Always assume public Wi-Fi networks are insecure. Never enter sensitive data (bank account information, credit or debit card details, etc.) when using the internet on a public Wi-Fi network. Don’t buy from unfamiliar websites - learn as much as you can about companies or individuals before you do business with them. If the sellers have a customer feedback forums, we would suggest you read them as they are very insightful, or ask your friends about their favourite online merchants.

    Finally, trust your instincts

  • If an offer looks too good to be true, then it often is.

It sometimes does....whether your purchase doesn’t arrive, it’s not quite what was advertised or appears to be a complete fake. Don’t worry, by using your Avantcard credit card you’ll be protected by the Visa or Mastercard chargeback schemes.

If you have a problem, then follow the steps below:

  1. You will need to contact the retailer by email or telephone to try to resolve the issue directly with them, for example, maybe your delivery has been delayed.

  2. However, if you are unable to resolve your query directly with them our Customer Service Team will be here to help. You can call us on 0818 409 511, 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 2pm on Saturday, excluding Bank Holidays and we will help you to try and get a refund through the chargeback process.
