Central Credit Register for Loan application

The Central Credit Register (CCR) is a secure system, established by the Central Bank of Ireland, for collecting personal and credit information for loans of €500 or more.

When you apply for a new Avant Money loan, you will need to provide us with a copy of official documents showing both your full name and your PPSN (Personal Public Service Number).
What do I need to do?
Fill in your personal loan application form with your PPSN along with a valid mobile number and email address.
If you are approved for a loan, you will be asked to provide evidence of your PPSN by uploading one of the approved documents above.

WARNING: Once approved in principle, if you are unable to provide a document to verify your PPSN, you will be unable to access your credit facility.

What does the CCR mean to my credit card application?
From 30 June 2017, lenders who provide consumer loans (credit cards, mortgages, personal loans and overdrafts) have submitted information to the Central Credit Register. The Central Credit Register processes data to create and maintain an accurate and up-to-date credit report for each borrower. Credit reports may be requested by borrowers and lenders. Each request is recorded on the credit report as a footprint.

From 30 September 2018, Avant Money are regulated by the Credit Reporting Act 2013 to complete a CCR enquiry as part of the assessment of your loan application. This will leave a footprint on your CCR credit file. If your loan is approved the details on the performance of your loan will be submitted to the CCR on a monthly basis.

Your credit report does not tell you if you can be approved for a loan.
The Central Credit Register does not score or grade credit reports or decide if credit is approved or not – the lender makes that decision.

PPSN Capture and Verification
When you apply for a loan, Avant Money must collect your Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) and must verify that this is correct against an official document as follows:

  • Payslip, P60/P45
  • P21, Tax Assessment or Notice of Tax Credits
  • Receipt of Social Welfare Payment
  • Medical Card / Drug Payment Scheme (DPS) Card
  • Any correspondence from the Department of Social Protection or the Revenue Commissioners addressed to you showing your PPSN
**Please do not submit a copy of your Public Service Card as Avant Money may not legally use a Public Service Card for the purposes of verifying a PPSN.
